November 28, 2007

                                
                        A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Mitch Couture, Nicole Plourde, Nathan Morin, Brian Leclerc, Martha Laflamme, John Moulis, Marion Y. Huntley, Steve Michaud, Corinne Cascadden, Tim Forestall, John Donaldson, Dan Record, Beverly Dupont, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Jane Provencher, and members of the press.
                        
MINUTES         On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the November 7, 2007 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
        
WARRANTS                A motion was made by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Martha Laflamme, to approve the warrants dated November 19, and December 3, 2007 for the amounts of $12,626.18, and $233,711.71 respectively. Discussion ensued and multiple questions were answered.  Items of concern were tipping fees, mileage sharing, CTE renovations, bus garage lease, and physical therapy rates. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

COMMENTS                None

SUPER REPORT    The Superintendent gave the Board a report for their information on the WAIT Program which was attended by two staff members.

NEW BUSINESS    Brian Leclerc asked Corinne Cascadden about the faculty parking situation at Brown School. She informed him that she has sent out reminders to her staff that they are to park across the street and not close to the building.

                        Nathan Morin asked the Superintendent if the teacher evaluations were being done in accordance to agreements and policies. Mr. Moulis explained the current teacher evaluation process to the Board.                                                                                                             
NON PUBLIC              On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Nathan Morin, the Board voted to go in to nonpublic session at 6:40 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II(a),(b), (c). On a roll call vote, Martha Laflamme and Brian Leclerc voted in the negative, Nicole Plourde, Nathan Morin, and Mitch Couture voted in the affirmative. The motion passed by a 3 to 2 margin.

                        On a motion by Brian Leclerc, seconded by Nicole Plourde, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:20 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.

NEW BUSINESS    A draft of a letter addressed to the BGRSC was reviewed by the Board. Discussion ensued. The Superintendent will send the draft to Board for additional edits.
                        
STAFFING                On a motion by Martha Laflamme, seconded by Nicole Plourde, the Board voted to accept the following staffing changes:

                        Sherri Yuhas – Grade 7 & 8 Cheerleading Coach
                        Andy Rancloes – Grade 8 Boys’ Basketball Coach
                        Nathan Roberge – Grade 8 Girls’ Basketball Coach                        
                                        
All nominations are contingent on the person passing a criminal record check. The motion passed unanimously.
                                                        
ADJOURN         On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:45 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
